AMPHIBIANS

A Museum of Vertebrate Zoology site that offers a searchable database on amphibian biology and conservation.  The focus is on the decline in amphibian populations around the world and creating a shared way of researching the declines.  The site currently has over 100 species accounts, containing descriptions, life history, conservation status and references.

BATS

INSECTS AND SPIDERS

Information on ants around the world from the California Academy of Sciences.
The University of Illinois Extension presents this database of insects that lets you search by insect name or location. Locations include trees, lawns, flowers and household. Once you have located the insect you want, you can find their habit, the damage they do, and how to control them in both chemical and non-chemical ways.
Butterflies of North America

Entomology Index of Internet Resources
From Iowa State University comes this site which serves as both a directory and search engine of insect-related sites.  It offers links under categories such as beekeeping, biological control, images, insect collections, sounds, integrated pest management, mailing lists, medical entomology, organisms and pesticides and regulations.

Save the Koala
This site offers information on koalas as well as photos, activities, and a special section for kids.

PRIMATES (MONKEYS AND GORILLAS)

Foundation for the preservation and study of gorillas.  The featured gorilla is Koko, who can communicate with humans using sign language.  The site hopes to bring communication with gorillas to the public so that there will be more people supporting gorillas and their environment.

This site from a non-advocacy, nonprofit organization is meant to foster discussion of wolves and their management from all perspectives.  On the site you will be able to hear from wildlife professionals and explore the wide variety of personal viewpoints that exist concerning wolves.  The site also offers information on wolves and a multimedia and photo archive.
